Garda\u00ed have urged motorists to avoid travelling along a section of the M6 outside Moate in county Westmeath following an early morning crash.<\/p>\n

Motorists are being urged to avoid a section of the M6 between Moate and Kilbeggan following an early morning road crash.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed attended the scene of the collision shortly before 9am, resulting in diversions being put in place and heavy tailbacks in traffic.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not known at this stage how many vehicles were caught up in the incident, however it\u2019s believed no serious injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is currently a high volume of traffic on the M6 at Junction 6 (eastbound) in the Moate area following a traffic collision,\u201d said a garda spokesperson. \u201cDelays are expected (and) motorists are advised to take alternate routes if travelling in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

That warning comes following a night of sub zero temperatures that left many roads in a dangerous condition as schools re-opened their doors for the start of the new 2026 academic year.<\/p>\n

The midlands county, together with Munster and 10 other counties were placed under a status yellow low temperature warning until 11am today by Met \u00c9ireann forecasters.<\/p>\n
