{"id":269185,"date":"2026-01-05T22:44:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T22:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/269185\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T22:44:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T22:44:08","slug":"largest-line-up-ever-for-ballincollig-winter-music-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/269185\/","title":{"rendered":"Largest line-up ever for Ballincollig Winter Music Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">The Ballincollig Winter Music Festival, which begins in just under three weeks, has the largest line-up so far, the event\u2019s founder has said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The festival is in its 16th edition since 2010 \u2014 it missed a year due to covid \u2014 and Joe Carey, proprietor of The White Horse, told  The Echo this is the first time it has ever run a full week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n            \u201cIt extends from Monday, January 26, all the way through until Monday, February 2, so it\u2019s the fullest festival we\u2019ve ever had.&#8221;\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cThis year we\u2019re bringing in other elements, we have an artist in residence, David Shillinglaw, who\u2019s going to be doing a mural on the back of The White Horse, tying in a lot of local history, and we\u2019ll be having interactions between him and some secondary school art students, so they can learn from him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cWe have comedy as part of the festival for the first time ever. About two years ago myself and Chris Kent started a comedy night, so this is a celebration of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Tuesday, January 27, will see an O\u00edche Scora\u00edochta \u2014 a free night of stories, song, and dance with Fear an T\u00ed Dick Beamish offering a celebration of stories and lore, idir Gaeilge agus B\u00e9arla, in the Rambling House tradition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cThe Wednesday night then will feature Niamh Regan, it\u2019ll be her first headline show in The White Horse after playing a special guest slot to Lisa Hannigan last year,\u201d Mr Carey said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n            \u201cShe needs no introduction; she has a couple of award-winning albums and is probably one of the most unique folk voices in the country.\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cOn the Thursday night we have a festival first, almost a panel discussion, entitled \u2018Notes from the Earth\u2019, featuring Mary Reynolds, Edwina Guckian, Colm O\u2019Regan, Alannah Thornburg, and Diarmuid \u00d3 Meachair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Friday night\u2019s gig presents Pilgrims, featuring Paul Noonan and Brian Crosby, who are \u2014 respectively \u2014 currently and formerly of Bell XI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Saturday features \u2018Notes from the Margins\u2019, a reading series bringing together writers and artists that give a voice to those on the margins of society, featuring Nashwa Nasreldin, Somaia Abu Nada, James Leonard, Barry Kerr, Martin Leahy, and Batool Abu Akleen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Saturday night will feature Scullion, with very special guest Inni-K, a show that Mr Carey said was already almost sold-out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Revered and feted as one of Ireland\u2019s most innovative live bands, Scullion features the talents of Sonny Condell of T\u00edr na n\u00d3g, Philip King, and Robbie Overson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cOn Sunday afternoon, we have a storytelling workshop with Dick Beamish, offering an introduction and reimagining of storytelling,\u201d Mr Carey said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Sunday\u2019s gig, featuring multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter Lisa Hannigan, is already sold out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The Ballincollig Winter Music Festival is supported by the Arts Council.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"listbullet\">\n<li>\n                    For booking information, see whitehorse.ie\n                <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Ballincollig Winter Music Festival, which begins in just under three weeks, has the largest line-up so far,&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":269186,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[75],"tags":[781,18,117,19,17,337],"class_list":{"0":"post-269185","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-entertainment","8":"tag-cork-news","9":"tag-eire","10":"tag-entertainment","11":"tag-ie","12":"tag-ireland","13":"tag-music"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@ie\/115844917780586520","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/269185","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=269185"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/269185\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/269186"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=269185"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=269185"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=269185"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
