A carnival ride in Dublin<\/a> broke down for a short period of time over the weekend, leaving punters stuck on the machine while workers put an emergency evacuation protocol in place.<\/p>\n

Thousands of people flocked to the RDS over the Christmas<\/a> break to enjoy some time at Funderland, one of Ireland\u2019s most beloved seasonal amusement parks, many of whom were eager to try out the new Maximum ride at the park.<\/p>\n

The colossal attraction is one of only two in the whole world, the other being based in Australia, so any thrill seeker with a penchant for fast amusement rides would have ensured Funderland was on their list over the festive period.<\/p>\n

The new KMG Lunarix, designed by Dutch manufacturer KMG Rides, stands at 24-meters tall and holds 16 people, eight on each arm, spinning and titling at speed for fairground goers.<\/p>\n

Carnival goers who jumped on the ride were left with a fright on Saturday however after a generator tripped which caused the Maximum to lose power for a few minutes. The ride is packed with modern safety equipment which ensured it was held in a balanced position while staff changed the generator.<\/p>\n

The team at Funderland<\/a> then implemented an emergency evacuation protocol to ensure everyone was safely off the ride in minutes before they were given free tickets for another go.<\/p>\n

A Funderland spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: \u201cA generator tripped which caused the Maximum to lose power for a few minutes in which the safety features of the ride held it in a balanced position while we changed generator and following safety procedures implemented emergency evacuation protocol. Minutes later all customers were off the attraction and given free tickets to go on again.\u201d<\/p>\n
