MEMBERS of the Committee that organises the annual Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Autumn School in Bruff have\u00a0expressed their grief and sadness at the untimely death<\/a> of Tatiana Schlossberg, daughter of Caroline Kennedy and granddaughter of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Autumn school Director Declan Hehir said everyone in Bruff was keenly feeling the tragic death of Tatiana, who visited the town in 2013 with her parents, Caroline and Edwin Schlossberg, and her siblings Rose and Jack.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have very fond memories of that visit. The family really enjoyed visiting so many ancestral venues in Bruff,” added Mr Hehir.<\/p>\n

“Three of the grandparents of Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy (mother of President Kennedy) hailed from Bruff and those ties are the inspiration for the annual Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Autumn School.”<\/p>\n

Mr Hehir said that the fact Tatiana was just 35 years old and the mother of two young children compounds the tragedy, and that he also wanted to convey the sympathies of the Bruff Committee to her husband, physician George Moran and the wider Schlossberg-Kennedy family.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ms Eileen McMahon, from Adare, who is one of the many County Limerick cousins of \u00a0the Kennedy Clan, recalled having lunch with Tatiana and her family back in 2013. \u201cShe was a lovely young woman and was really enjoying connecting with her Limerick cousins and seeing the various local sites around Bruff associated with the Fitzgerald-Kennedy clan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms McMahon explained:<\/p>\n

“Just two months ago at the 2025 Rose Kennedy autumn school, another famous relative of the family matriarch – Kathleen Kennedy Townsend – was the guest of honour, and spoke movingly about her father Robert F Kennedy, a brother of the President, who was himself assassinated in 1968.”<\/p>\n

“I had the pleasure of meeting Tatiana in Bruff in 2013. My mother my Aunt and I enjoyed lunch with her,” added Ms McMahon.<\/p>\n

“Tatiana, then a student of history at Oxford University, showed a keen interest in the ancestral\u00a0links to Bruff through the female Fitzgerald side of the\u00a0family. She was excited to see pictures of Margaret Sheehan from Bruff who was a first cousin of her famous great great grandfather Honey Fitz the 1st Irish Catholic Mayor of Boston.<\/p>\n

Ms McMahon said that Tatiana watched video footage of her grandfather, President\u00a0Kennedy meeting his Fitzgerald cousins\u00a0with great interest.<\/p>\n

“We at the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy School RFKAS are deeply\u00a0saddened\u00a0at her untimely\u00a0passing. She was a beautiful young woman with so much to live for. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to her family.”<\/p>\n

May she rest in peace.<\/p>\n
