While the snow and ice weather warnings in Ireland expired this morning and the worst of the cold snap is over, according to Met \u00c9ireann, sleet and snow look likely for some areas this week.<\/p>\n
The national forecaster said temperatures will remain close to freezing today, and there is a chance that further wintry conditions might be on the way.<\/p>\n
It comes as the cold snap in Europe has resulted in hundreds of flight cancellations, mainly flights servicing French, Dutch and Belgian airports, due to the snowstorm and ice hitting northern Europe amid sub zero temperatures.<\/p>\n
Although Dublin Airport is fully operational today, a spokesperson advised of some further possible disruption due to difficult weather conditions.<\/p>\n
Eight flights have been cancelled today at Dublin Airport to and from affected countries, including three return flights between Dublin and Amsterdam and one return service between Dublin and Brussels.<\/p>\n
In a statement posted on social media, a spokesperson for Dublin Airport said: \u201cWhile Dublin Airport is fully operational today, some disruption to flight schedules is possible due to weather issues at other airports in Europe and the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAirlines have cancelled eight flights from today\u2019s schedule, including three return services between Dublin & Amsterdam and one return service between Dublin & Brussels,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurther disruption is possible. As always, passengers should contact their airline directly for the latest updates regarding the status of their flight,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, all flights at Ireland West Airport Knock have been operating as normal since yesterday.<\/p>\n
“Thankfully, all our flights operated yesterday and this far today everything is operating as to schedule,\u201d a spokesperson for the Knock Airport told the Irish Independent.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, Knock Airport advised travellers of \u201cvery challenging\u201d roads leading to the airport, and asked people to take extra care on the roads.<\/p>\n
On Monday, heavy snowfall disrupted air, road and rail travel in France and the Netherlands, resulting in hundreds of flights being cancelled in Paris and Amsterdam.<\/p>\n
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, one of Europe\u2019s busiest hubs, cancelled around 700 flights yesterday due to the snow, as its flag carrier KLM announced a further 300 cancellations for today.<\/p>\n
In a statement, a spokesperson for Schiphol said that only \u201climited air traffic is possible to and from Schiphol\u201d due to \u201cpersistent winter weather\u201d.<\/p>\n
“The wintry conditions are expected to cause disruptions to the flight schedule in the coming days. This may result in delays and cancellations,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n
