{"id":270475,"date":"2026-01-06T15:19:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T15:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/270475\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T15:19:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T15:19:08","slug":"hyundai-motor-group-plans-to-deploy-humanoid-robots-at-u-s-factory-from-2028","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/270475\/","title":{"rendered":"Hyundai Motor Group plans to deploy humanoid robots at U.S. factory from 2028"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Hyundai Metaplant is seen on September 9, 2025, in Ellabell, Georgia.   <\/p>\n<p>Elijah Nouvelage | Afp | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai Motor Group plans to deploy humanoid robots at its U.S. manufacturing plant in Georgia starting in 2028, marking a step toward \u2060automating higher-risk and repetitive manufacturing tasks, the South Korean company said.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai unveiled the production version of \u200dthe Atlas humanoid robot, \u200ddeveloped by its \u200dunit Boston Dynamics, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>The company did not disclose the volume or cost of the robots, but said in a \u200cstatement \u200cit aims to roll out adoption across all \u200bof its manufacturing sites as part of a push into &#8220;physical AI&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The robots will initially carry out parts sequencing tasks from 2028, with applications expanding gradually as safety and quality benefits \u2060are validated, it said.<\/p>\n<p>By 2030, Hyundai said Atlas robots were expected to move into component assembly with a longer-term plan to take on tasks involving heavy loads, repetitive motions and complex operations across production sites.<\/p>\n<p>The robots are designed to reduce physical strain on workers by taking on higher-risk and repetitive tasks, laying the groundwork for broader commercial use in industrial settings, it said.<\/p>\n<p>At Hyundai Motor&#8217;s affiliate Kia Corp, the labor union last year called to establish a body to address potential labour rights issues in preparation for the AI era, as workers raised concerns about expanding automation.<\/p>\n<p>The company expects humanoid robots to become the \u200dlargest segment of the physical artificial intelligence market, which refers to AI systems \u200cembedded in hardware that collect real-world data and make \u2060autonomous decisions, spanning areas such as robotics, smart factories and autonomous driving.<\/p>\n<p>Atlas features human-scale hands with tactile sensing and has the \u200dability to lift up to 50 kg (110 pounds), according to Hyundai.<\/p>\n<p>The robot can operate autonomously and is designed to function in industrial environments ranging from minus 20 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai said it is accelerating development in this area through partnerships with global AI leaders, \u2060including a collaboration with Nvidia and Google, \u200caimed at improving safety, efficiency and real-world deployment. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Hyundai Metaplant is seen on September 9, 2025, in Ellabell, Georgia.
