On Monday, the Twilight star made a bold statement in New York City, stepping out in a see-through, floor-length sequin New Arrivals skirt<\/a> that revealed her black underwear underneath. The actress and filmmaker wore the look ahead of her appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, where she was promoting her directorial debut<\/a>, The Chronology of Water.<\/p>\n

The appearance marked part of a busy press schedule for Stewart as The Chronology of Water approaches its wide release date of January 9, following a limited release in New York and L.A. last month. The film, adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch\u2019s memoir of the same name, stars Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, Susannah Flood, and Tom Sturridge.<\/p>\n
Stewart discussed the project and her love of directing during her interview with Seth Meyers. \u201cI\u2019ve been really leading up to this forever. I\u2019ve wanted to do this since I was nine,\u201d she said. She continued, describing how reading Yuknavitch\u2019s novel informed her approach to directing. \u201cI would say, honestly, 40 pages in, I was having these striking image-filled experiences that felt so physical and also really personal because it\u2019s such a choose-your-own-adventure text,\u201d she explained. \u201cIt\u2019s an amalgamation of experiences that, I think, maybe every individual would choose different ones to latch onto.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stewart also made headlines recently for her comments about a possible return to the Twilight universe\u2014this time behind the camera. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight<\/a> at Variety\u2019s 10 Directors to Watch event on January 4, she said she would be open to directing a reboot of the franchise that launched her career.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would love\u2014look, I love what Catherine [Hardwicke] did, I love what Chris [Weitz] did, I love what all of the directors did with the movies,\u201d Stewart said. Reflecting on the original films, she added that they were \u201cso themselves and weird and kind of like, squirrelly.\u201d She concluded, \u201cImagine if we had a huge budget and a bunch of love and support. I don\u2019t know\u2014I would love to readapt. Yeah, sure, I\u2019ll do the remake. I\u2019m doing it. I\u2019m committed!\u201d<\/p>\n
