ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State Dept. of Health has confirmed that the State’s childhood vaccination policies remain unchanged despite recent federal revisions to immunization recommendations.<\/p>\n

The U.S. has taken the unprecedented step of dropping the number of vaccines it recommends for every child.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The US Department of Health and Human Services\u202fwill recommend fewer vaccines for most American children, health officials said Monday.<\/p>\n

NYSDOH confirmed on Jan. 6 that there will be no changes to vaccine access, insurance coverage or the federal Vaccines for Children (VCF) program, which provides vaccines at no cost to eligible children.<\/p>\n

“Despite changes announced at the federal level, New York State\u2019s long-standing, childhood vaccine requirements remain the same,” said State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald. “There was no new science, safety data or discovery presented by the federal government.”<\/p>\n

Health care providers in New York State are advised to continue their “evidence-based immunization practices.”<\/p>\n
