Justin Baldoni accused Blake Likely of \u201csetting me up for a trap\u201d<\/a> by refusing to use a body double in \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d sex scenes, according to recently unsealed text messages amid their ongoing legal battle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s refused a body double,\u201d Baldoni wrote in a private text exchange with his former William Morris Endeavor agent Danny Greenberg on Dec. 30, 2023, per legal docs obtained by Page Six.<\/p>\n

He argued that the move was \u201cjust setting me up for a trap,\u201d adding that she insisted Baldoni use a body double for their scenes.<\/p>\n

While explaining his \u201creally bad week\u201d to his agent, Baldoni described how Lively shut down his ideas for the film\u2019s sex scenes and suggested that the stars \u201ckeep all of both of our clothes on for the big love scene,\u201d which he claimed was \u201cjust ridiculous if you know the book.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole thing is just a gigantic cluster f\u2013k and yet I\u2019m doing my best to stay positive, although it\u2019s been very draining on me and time-consuming over this break to be dealing with an actress who is rewriting the writer and Director,\u201d he complained. <\/p>\n

The \u201cJane the Virgin\u201d alum, 41, claimed that he was giving into \u201c95%\u201d of her demands \u201cfor peace,\u201d but called the ordeal a \u201cbrutal experience.\u201d <\/p>\n

In an update, Baldoni confirmed that he would be meeting with Lively, 38, at her house to go over her edits as she insisted the meeting \u201cneeded to take place\u201d there. <\/p>\n

He also alleged that the \u201cGossip Girl\u201d alum pushed back on Wayfarer Productions\u2019 CEO Jamey Heath being present on the film\u2019s set \u2014 which Baldoni assured he was \u201cfighting back on.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m doing my best to just stay positive and give her as many wins as possible to just finish this thing but it\u2019s gonna be tough at some point,\u201d he wrote, adding that Lively was \u201cdestroying her reputation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere we will need the most help is during the Edit because I\u2019m not going to get everything she wants and I foresee that being a big issue,\u201d he told Greenberg. <\/p>\n

Reps for Lively and Baldoni did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n

A source close to Lively, however, tells Page Six that \u201cthese messages were sent only after Blake had laid out in detail the numerous ways that Baldoni and Heath had created a hostile work environment on the set, after they agreed to more than a dozen \u2018protections\u2019 for the safety of the cast and crew, and just days ahead of the January 4 meeting at which these protections would be discussed before filming resumed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe text chain underscores Baldoni\u2019s retaliatory intent,\u201d the source continues. \u201cIt reflects his private anger over the same safeguards that he had said in public were both \u2018reasonable\u2019 and \u2018essential,\u2019 and which he later admitted in his deposition were reasonable, including his resentment for having to show up to an \u2018all hands\u2019 meeting he had also agreed to.\u201d<\/p>\n

As we previously reported, one of the major issues sparking Lively and Baldoni\u2019s larger-than-life feud was their divisive creative differences<\/a> on the \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d set. <\/p>\n

While Baldoni directed, starred and produced through his Wayfarer Productions company, Lively also earned a producer credit on the movie, which is based on Colleen Hoover\u2019s book of the same name. <\/p>\n

At the time, a source told the Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that Lively commissioned a separate cut of the film from editor Shane Reid, who worked on husband Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman\u2019s \u201cDeadpool & Wolverine.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a fracture among the filmmakers in the postproduction process, wherein two different cuts of the movie emerged,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

A source seemingly confirmed the outlet\u2019s reporting in August 2024, exclusively telling Page Six that Lively gave the final approval on the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were two edits and the studio went with a more feminine edit,\u201d the insider shared.<\/p>\n

It was also reported that Baldoni allegedly made Lively feel \u201cuncomfortable\u201d<\/a> on set and created an \u201cextremely difficult\u201d atmosphere for the cast in general.<\/p>\n
