The condition is common, however, and has affected astronauts dating back to the beginning of spaceflight.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmk4otds3000b3b6p4u0oeup6@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            An incident in which an astronaut experienced a case of jugular venous thrombosis, a dangerous condition in which a blood clot can form in a person\u2019s jugular vein, was also revealed in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMc1905875\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">academic journal<\/a>.
