Former Home and Away<\/a> star Rebecca Breeds has revealed there was once a proposed storyline for her to return the Australian soap.<\/p>\n

The actor played Ruby Buckton on the show between 2008 and 2012, before going on to star in US dramas such as Pretty Little Liars, The Originals<\/a>, and Legacies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Aussie outlet Chattr<\/a>, Breeds explained she was asked to come back for a second stint, but scheduling conflicts got in the way.<\/p>\n

“There was an opportunity years ago,” she said. “There was a storyline where the River Boys went to England, and they did want me to come back.<\/p>\n

“I was working on a show called We Are Men at the time, and I couldn’t do it.”<\/p>\n

Although she lives in Chicago now with fellow former Home and Away star and real-life husband Luke Mitchell, she said “hell yeah” to a hypothetical return.<\/p>\n

“I loved that show,” Breeds explained of why she was willing to head back to Aus for the gig. “I never say never about things. It’s just a matter of timing and place, like we’re in Chicago right now.”<\/p>\n

She added: “It’s a big, wide world with lots of exciting adventures and jobs, but we love home, and I can’t wait to be home, and I would love to work in Sydney again. So you know, watch this space, I suppose.”<\/p>\n

When asked what kind of storyline she’d like to see for her character were she to return, Breeds stated: “I wanna vindicate Ruby! She got a really hard rap at the end there. She was smooshed into the ground. It was unfair. I say justice for Ruby.”<\/p>\n

She continued: “She lost her mum, right? And then she turned to alcohol, and I almost had a mental breakdown because every time I got a script I\u2019m like, ‘What do you mean, it’s worse?! What do you mean?!’<\/p>\n

“My hope would be that Ruby turned it around and became a child psychologist and helps girls. The show was based around wayward kids that found their way to Summer Bay and were fostered and counselled and cared for by the community\u2026 and I think that’s kind of what Ruby would do.”<\/p>\n

Home and Away <\/strong>airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via <\/strong>Prime Video<\/strong><\/a> in the UK.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.<\/strong><\/p>\n
