{"id":276402,"date":"2026-01-09T19:17:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T19:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/276402\/"},"modified":"2026-01-09T19:17:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T19:17:10","slug":"toy-show-rugby-and-traitors-among-most-watched-television-programmes-of-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/276402\/","title":{"rendered":"Toy Show, rugby and Traitors among most watched television programmes of 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Late Late Toy Show and The Traitors Ireland were the only non-sporting fixtures to make the top 10 most watched television programmes of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Figures from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tamireland.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">TAM Ireland<\/a><\/strong> and <strong>Nielsen Media Ireland<\/strong> show the average household watched two hours and 20 minutes everyday last year, rising to three hours and 18 minutes when expanding to all video content on a TV set.<\/p>\n<p>Crucially, 75% of this time was spent with broadcaster content, far outweighing time spent with subscription video on demand (SVOD) services (11%), YouTube (6%) and other streaming platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The vast majority (84%) of daily viewing of Irish television was watched live as scheduled while 16% was viewed via catch-ups services as the share of homes equipped with broadband rose to 93%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/extra.ie\/tag\/toy-show\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Toy Show <\/a>was the most viewed show of the year across all channels available in Ireland with nearly 1.6m viewers, and five rugby matches made the top 10.<\/p>\n<p>The top five was rounded out by the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final (995,300), the men&#8217;s Six Nations match between Ireland and France (984,600), the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final (938,900) and the men&#8217;s Six Nations match between Ireland and England (863,700).<\/p>\n<p>A further 828,100 tuned into Ireland versus Scotland in the Six Nations, putting it ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/businessplus.ie\/media-plus\/the-traitors-ireland-very\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"221346\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Traitors Ireland final<\/a> (818,000), Ireland&#8217;s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Hungary (804,300) and Ireland&#8217;s rugby matches versus South Africa (749,900) and Wales (736,800).<\/p>\n<p>Sport dominated the top 20, although episodes of Room to Improve (647,000), I&#8217;m a Celebrity\u2026 Get Me Out Of Here!
