The latest move before Friday\u2019s announcement came at the end of 2024, when authorities lowered the refund rate from 13 per cent to 9 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing has mounted various attempts to <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/china-economy\/article\/3332587\/chinas-solar-industry-vows-fight-end-against-cutthroat-competition?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">rein in overcompetition<\/a> in the solar photovoltaic (PV) sector, and the fight against excessive competition was part of the Communist Party Central Committee\u2019s proposals for the next five-year plan that was released in October.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">In its statement, the CPIA admitted that the VAT rebate scheme had affected the industry\u2019s interests and international image.
