Tomorrow will see RT\u00c9 begin broadcasting its first Sunday Mass transmissions directly from churches instead of being produced in studio.<\/p>\n
The new broadcasts will be produced by independent production company Scratch Films, which was awarded the contract last October for a three-year period.<\/p>\n
The move to have RT\u00c9’s Christian worship content be independently produced is part of RT\u00c9\u2019s new direction strategy.<\/p>\n
RT\u00c9 has broadcast its Christian worship content for over 30 years from its Donnybrook studio.<\/p>\n
However, the broadcaster said in October that the existing model meant bringing groups of people from parishes and schools around the country to Dublin, which was a “significant imposition on them with an associated carbon footprint”.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow\u2019s service will be broadcast live from St Mary\u2019s Church in Navan from 11am.<\/p>\n
Archbishop Eamon Martin welcomed the move to broadcast from parishes around the country, calling it “an example of public service broadcasting at its best”, adding that those who are housebound or elderly would value the service.<\/p>\n
