Now, she\u2019s given a bittersweet update to fans. On Jan. 9, the singer stated that she\u2019ll never perform in the U.S. again\u00a0but seemed open to getting back onstage elsewhere. <\/p>\n<p>Taking to Instagram, Spears <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DTROSSzEs5y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" class=\"T3D\">shared a throwback photo<\/a> of her performing her iconic ballad \u201cI\u2019m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman\u201d at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=voOJp8PneAg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" class=\"T3D\">2002 American Music Awards<\/a>, accompanied by a striking white piano. \u201cSending this piano to my son this year!!!\u201d she wrote, nodding to her 19-year-old son Jayden James Federline, whom she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DTROSSzEs5y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" class=\"T3D\">posted a photo<\/a> with just hours prior. <\/p>\n<p>In her caption, she contemplated a return to the stage, stating that she doesn\u2019t feel comfortable performing stateside but hopes to do so with her son abroad.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons but I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son\u2026 in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe\u2019s a huge star and I\u2019m so humbled to be in his presence!!! God speed, little man!!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frank Micelotta Archive\/Getty Images Entertainment\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>In April, Spears shared a video of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DIAnJ_HtNaR\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" class=\"T3D\">Jayden playing the piano<\/a> at her home, showcasing his own musical talent. \u201cExcuse me crying and breathing hard !!! I was excited !!!\u201d she wrote. <\/p>\n<p>Regardless of whether she steps onstage again, Spears promised to keep sharing dance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/entertainment\/britney-spears-instagram\" class=\"T3D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">videos on Instagram<\/a> in her recent post, calling them a form of healing. \u201cInterestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s embarrassing sometimes\u2026 but I walked through the fire to save my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Britney\u2019s Relationship With Performing<\/p>\n<p>Near the end of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/entertainment\/michelle-williams-will-read-britney-spears-memoir-audiobook\" class=\"T3D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Woman In Me<\/a>, Spears addressed whether <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/entertainment\/will-britney-spears-sing-perform-again-memoir\" class=\"T3D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">she\u2019d ever return to music<\/a> and perform again, admitting that she was \u201cstruggling with that question.\u201d While she had started to rediscover her love of music after her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bustle.com\/entertainment\/britney-spears-conservatorship-court-hearing-quotes-details\" class=\"T3D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">13-year conservatorship<\/a> ended in 2021, she wasn\u2019t quite ready to bring that to larger crowds yet \u2014\u00a0and isn\u2019t sure she ever will be. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m enjoying dancing and singing the way I used to when I was younger and not trying to do it for my family\u2019s benefit, not trying to get something, but doing it for me and for my genuine love of it,\u201d she wrote. \u201cBeing an entertainer was great, but over the last five years my passion to entertain in front of a live audience has lessened.
