From Super Bowl LX<\/strong> at Levi\u2019s Stadium to the return of the Bay Lights<\/a>, there\u2019s so much to look forward to this year<\/a> around the Bay Area. But K-pop fans and museumgoers currently have their eye on the newly-announced RM x SFMOMA exhibition<\/strong> debuting in October 2026.<\/p>\n RM, famous for being the leader of the iconic K-pop group BTS, has collaborated with SFMOMA to present an exclusive new exhibition featuring pieces from his personal collection.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n RM x SFMOMA<\/p>\n RM himself curated the exhibition with co-curators Am\u00e9rica Castillo and Hyoeun Kim of SFMOMA. His personal collections feature modern and contemporary pieces by Korean and international artists<\/strong>, which SFMOMA presents in dialogue with works from the museum\u2019s own holdings.<\/p>\n SFMOMA and RM\u2019s October exhibition announcement posts racked up millions of likes<\/strong> on Instagram, signalling clear enthusiasm for the exhibition even 1 year out.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the end of last year, when I first heard from SFMOMA, the excitement still comes vividly to mind<\/strong>, as if I were sketching out countless ideas all over again,\u201d wrote RM. \u201cSince I began visiting museums in 2018, I\u2019ve been learning and collecting step by step, and it feels both humbling and meaningful<\/strong> to now prepare this exhibition.<\/p>\n \u201cI would be honored if you could visit with an open heart.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n RM x SFMOMA is scheduled to run from October 2026 through February 2027.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n More exhibitions coming to SFMOMA in 2026<\/p>\n In addition to the RM collaboration, SFMOMA has announced an exciting lineup of exhibitions and installations opening this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n Standouts include Feel the Beat: Dance in Photographs<\/strong>, an exploration of photography and dance opening in May; as well as Matisse\u2019s Femme au chapeau: A Modern Scandal<\/strong>, which examines Henri Matisse\u2019s controversial 1905 painting in dialogue with his contemporaries.<\/p>\n Several new site-specific installations will also open at SFMOMA in 2026, including Jacob Hashimoto\u2019s\u00a0Giant Arc<\/strong>, which features an enormous sculpture made of hand-built kites and paper starting in August; and Rose B. Simpson\u2019s Behold<\/strong>, a 24-foot outdoor sculpture opening in January that honors Indigenous legacies.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSan Francisco Museum of Modern Art<\/p>\n \t–<\/p>\n \t4.6\n<\/blockquote>\n
