{"id":280144,"date":"2026-01-12T01:25:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T01:25:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/280144\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T01:25:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T01:25:18","slug":"man-walking-barefoot-from-istanbul-to-mayo-to-raise-money-for-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/280144\/","title":{"rendered":"Man walking barefoot from Istanbul to Mayo to raise money for charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <strong>Co Mayo<\/strong> man is walking barefoot across Europe to set a new <strong>world record<\/strong> and make money for two charities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eamonn Keaveney<\/strong>, 32, set off from Istanbul on March 4th, 2025, and is aiming to finish in his hometown of Claremorris, Co Mayo.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Keaveney is raising funds for youth mental health charity <strong>Jigsaw<\/strong>, and <strong>Friends of the Earth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He was recently in Wales, and is due in Co Wexford this week.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Keaveney was due in Castlebridge, Co Wexford, on Monday but this may be delayed until Tuesday due to issues with ferry crossings and the bad weather.<\/p>\n<p>Castlebridge is the home of the Guinness World Records, so Mr Keaveney will make a stop to discuss his world record attempt with locals.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"339\" width=\"604\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/man-walking-barefoot-from-istanbul-to-mayo-to-raise-money-for-charity.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1851272\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMental health is really important to me.
