The longtime <strong>Frodo<\/strong> actor shared his thoughts during a panel appearance. He offered a cryptic but enthusiastic reaction to the upcoming film.<\/p>\n<p>Elijah Wood addressed Ian McKellen\u2019s comments about a Frodo and Gandalf reunion in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum during a panel at FAN EXPO New Orleans. <\/p>\n<p>Asked about McKellen\u2019s statement, Wood said, \u201cI can neither confirm nor deny. Listen, a wizard is to be trusted. Aside from any of that, I\u2019m not really allowed to confirm.\u201d He continued, \u201cI\u2019m really excited about the film\u2026 It really is a creative \u2018getting the band back together.\u2019\u201d Wood emphasized the return of key creatives, stating, \u201cPhilippa [Boyens] I think, is co-writing it and producing it\u2026 that core original group [is] getting back together\u201d (via <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/hunt-for-gollum-frodo-gandalf-reunion-elijah-wood-response\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Screen Rant<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Wood added that Andy Serkis directing the film is \u201cunbelievably appropriate\u201d since \u201che directs a film about his character that he has really made his own.\u201d He also noted, \u201cI know their intention is to make other films in this universe\u2026 very exciting.\u201d Wood did not confirm his casting in The Hunt for Gollum. He did, however, express excitement about the project and its connections to the original trilogy.<\/p>\n<p>At the \u201cFor the Love of Fantasy\u201d fan event in London, McKellen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superherohype.com\/news\/646157-lord-of-the-rings-the-hunt-for-gollum-filming-update-gandalf-frodo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">confirmed<\/a> that \u201cThere\u2019s a character in the movie called Frodo and another character called Gandalf, and apart from that, my lips are sealed.\u201d He also stated that they will begin filming in May 2026. Both McKellen and Wood attended the event.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Serkis directs the film and reprises his role as Gollum. The story takes place just before The Fellowship of the Ring and follows Gandalf\u2019s search for Gollum. Philippa Boyens, Fran Walsh, Phoebe Gittins, Arty Papageorgiou, and J.R.R. Tolkien wrote the screenplay.
