{"id":281008,"date":"2026-01-12T15:16:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T15:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/281008\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T15:16:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T15:16:07","slug":"man-24-pleads-guilty-to-garda-knife-attack-and-arson-at-conor-mcgregors-dublin-pub-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/281008\/","title":{"rendered":"Man (24) pleads guilty to garda knife attack and arson at Conor McGregor\u2019s Dublin pub \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A 24-year-old man has pleaded guilty to terrorist activities that include the arson of a pub owned by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/conor-mcgregor\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/conor-mcgregor\/\" target=\"_blank\">Conor McGregor<\/a><b> <\/b>and a knife attack on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">garda\u00ed<\/a> in a<b> <\/b>separate incident in Dublin city centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">At the Special Criminal Court on Monday, defence counsel for Abdullah Khan, Michael Bowman SC, said there was \u201ca complex psychological background\u201d to the case, asking the three judges to order a report on the defendant. Khan, with an address in Dublin that cannot be revealed due to a court order, was arraigned on eight counts. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He was charged that on July 25th, 2025, at the Black Forge Inn, Drimnagh Road, Dublin 12, he did commit arson in that he did without lawful excuse damage property by fire, to wit the facade of the pub. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He was charged that four days later on July 29th, 2025, at Capel Street, he committed assault causing harm to one garda and attempted to commit an assault causing harm to another garda.
