<\/p>\nMs Murphy was 23 years old when she was killed while she was out for a run along the banks of the Grand Canal in Tullamore, Co Offaly, four years ago today, on January 12, 2022.<\/p>\n
In November 2023, 33-year-old Jozef Puska was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of her murder.<\/p>\n
Remembered as an inspirational primary school teacher to her students at Durrow National School, Ms Murphy was a talented musician and sportswoman.<\/p>\n
In a tribute shared online, Mr Casey said: \u201cOne of the hardest things we all have to do in life is to try and turn the page to the next chapter, knowing that someone who meant so much to you won\u2019t be in it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis does not mean they won\u2019t be there to guide you, as there are things death can never touch, such as the bond, connection and love we had for each other.<\/p>\n

A mass to mark Ms Murphy\u2019s fourth anniversary was held on Sunday morning in St Brigid\u2019s Church, Mountbolus, Co Offaly.<\/p>\n
A commemorative walk along the banks of the Grand Canal to Ms Murphy\u2019s memorial shrine will take place today, beginning at the monument erected in memory of Fiona Pender, who went missing in 1996.<\/p>\n
Members of the public, clubs, communities and other organisations around the country have been invited to take part in their own walks, runs or other events today, or on another date that suits.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the many individuals and groups who have already taken time to honour Ashling, and to those who will remember her in the days ahead. Your kindness, love, and support are forever appreciated,\u201d the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund said in a social media post.<\/p>\n
More than \u20ac150,000 has been donated to a number of organisations since the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund was established in November 2022.<\/p>\n
