China has vowed to deepen cooperation in new energy and green minerals with the nations in the Global South, saying the move is in line with their industrial goals and a step towards further advancing Beijing\u2019s economic opening-up, according to the latest front-page commentary in the Communist Party\u2019s official newspaper.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmid profound changes in the global environment, [China\u2019s commitment to further opening up] underscores our confidence and responsibility in upholding openness and win-win cooperation,\u201d the piece in People\u2019s Daily said on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt sends a powerful signal that China\u2019s high-quality development will create new opportunities for the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
The commentary was the sixth in a new editorial series<\/a>, coming at the start of China\u2019s 15th five-year planning period<\/a> and published under the byline \u201cZhong Caiping\u201d. It resembles one \u2013 \u201cZhong Caiwen\u201d \u2013 that is widely believed to represent the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, a key economic decision-making body headed by President Xi Jinping.<\/p>\n The new piece added that the world\u2019s second-largest economy would guide the orderly and rational cross-border layout of industrial and supply chains to support growth, job creation and higher living standards abroad.<\/p>\n It noted that, over the past decade, China has helped slash global solar power costs by more than 80 per cent by leveraging its renewable energy system, the world\u2019s largest.
