After another impressively profitable weekend in theaters, James Cameron\u2019s \u201cAvatar: Fire and Ash<\/a>\u201d helped crown its star Zoe Salda\u00f1a the queen of the box office.<\/p>\n

The third \u201cAvatar\u201d movie boasted $21.3 million in North American sales last week, bringing it to a global total of $1.23 billion. With those impressive stats, Salda\u00f1a officially surpassed Scarlett Johansson as the highest-grossing actor of all time.<\/p>\n

The Oscar winner has grossed more than $15.47 billion at the international box office, according to box office tracking website the Numbers<\/a>. Johansson only recently gained the title <\/a>after surpassing her \u201cAvengers\u201d co-star Samuel L. Jackson with the release of last summer\u2019s \u201cJurassic World Rebirth<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

What helped buoy Salda\u00f1a to the top is the fact that the 47-year-old actor stars in the three highest-grossing films of all time: 2009\u2019s \u201cAvatar\u201d ($2.9 billion), 2019\u2019s \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d ($2.8 billion) and 2022\u2019s \u201cAvatar: The Way of Water\u201d ($2.3 billion). <\/p>\n

Salda\u00f1a is also the only actor to appear in four movies that brought in over $2 billion worldwide. (2018\u2019s \u201cAvengers: Infinity War\u201d grossed $2.05 billion.)<\/p>\n

Last year proved that Salda\u00f1a\u2019s talent exceeded the realm of popcorn movies when she nabbed her first Academy Award for her supporting role in the controversial musical \u201cEmilia P\u00e9rez<\/a>.\u201d Her win marked the first time an actor with Dominican roots had won an Oscar. <\/p>\n

\u201cI am a proud child of immigrant parents, with dreams and dignity and hardworking hands,\u201d she said through tears while accepting the award for supporting actress. \u201cAnd I am the first American of Dominican origin to accept an Academy Award, and I know I will not be the last.\u201d<\/p>\n
