Pic: RTE<\/p>\n<p>After 13 years together and welcoming three children \u2013 daughter Ally, nine, and sons Finn, seven, and five-year-old Se\u00e1n \u2013 the couple decided to get married just eight weeks before their big day.<\/p>\n<p>But now Eibhl\u00edn has confirmed to EVOKE that she and Alan are no longer together.<\/p>\n<p>However, when asked if she like to make any further comment on their marriage split, the TV presenter declined.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG-20221201-WA0003.jpg\" alt=\"Eibhl\u00edn N\u00ed Chonghaile fairytale wedding manor Alan Maloney\" class=\"wp-image-1588123\"  \/>Eibhl\u00edn N\u00ed Chonghaile&#8217;s wedding to Alan Maloney. Pic: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>Eibhl\u00edn, who has spent the last 23 years gracing our TV screens on every channel from TG4 and RTE to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/evoke.ie\/tag\/virgin-media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Virgin Media<\/a>\u00a0and Raidio na Gaeltachta covering news and current affairs, previously opened up to us about her fairytale romance to Alan after meeting on Ladies Day at the Galway Races.<\/p>\n<p>She previously told EVOKE: &#8216;I swear, he walks over in the bar and I turn around. I just love his height and his stature anyway \u2013 that would be my caveman kind of guy \u2013 and I obviously liked him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He had this mid-Atlantic accent and he said he was from Mayo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/E-Ni-ChonghailePress1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1281124\"  \/>Eibhl\u00edn N\u00ed Chonghaile. Pic: RTE<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So the connection was that I was nicknamed at the time the <a href=\"https:\/\/extra.ie\/2021\/09\/10\/sport\/gaa\/ryan-tubridy-all-ireland-prayer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mayo<\/a> correspondent because I was doing all the gas stories and I was really knowledgeable on Mayo at that stage so we had a huge discussion about that,\u00a0but then we got lost, we moved to the couches in the foyer and he didn\u2019t see us, and we parted.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Alan, who is co-owner of Mount Falcon Estate walked up to her at the bar, and while they eventually lost each other in the crowd they did manage to exchange cards. <\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It was funny because I came up with my best friend but he didn&#8217;t know and I asked for a bedroom for two and he is checking with reception every five seconds did she specify a twin room, is it a boyfriend?\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t know what was coming up.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_9156.jpg\" alt=\"Eibhl\u00edn N\u00ed Chonghaile fairytale wedding manor Alan Maloney\" class=\"wp-image-1588117\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The pair had dinner that night with friends\u00a0 and afterward, he invited her to come downstairs. \u2018He had the porter put on a fire and bring in tea and toast and we talked. He said, \u201cmy life is a little bit messy but can you promise me to wait for me?\u201d Straight off I said yes.<\/p>\n<p> \u2018So we had a slightly tumultuous year after that where it was highs and lows,\u2019 she says. \u2018But I was 32 and it was very romantic. Pic: Michael Pajkert<\/p>\n<p>Eibhl\u00edn admitted previously that she didn&#8217;t make contact until Christmas to wish him a Happy Christmas before he invited her down to Mount Falcon to stay with a friend, and after a wonderful dinner,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>he asked her to meet him in the drawing room later that night\u00a0where they enjoyed tea and toast in front of a roaring fire. <\/p>\n<p>The 48-year-old mum-of-three told<a href=\"https:\/\/onefabday.com\/eibhlin-ni-chonghaile-mount-falcon-wedding\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> One Fab Day<\/a> at the time about the moment Alan proposed while abroad. She said: &#8216;He&#8217;d been acting quite strange and leaving the table quite a lot that evening.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Of course, I found out afterwards that he was trying to get through to my father in Connemara to seek his approval. Pic: RTE<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The next day we joined friends and family on an archaeological cruise of the Mediterranean, so it was a great start to the rest of our lives and terribly romantic,&#8217; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on her big day, Eibhl\u00edn told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/evoke.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">EvVOKE<\/a> at the time: \u2018I\u2019m practical and had never considered myself to be a wedding person but when I walked down the stairs into the foyer and saw everyone, there was this really special feeling which I didn\u2019t expect to have.&#8217;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"TV star Eibhl\u00edn N\u00ed Chonghaile\u00a0has confirmed she has split from Mount Falcon Estate hotelier Alan Maloney.
