That\u2019s 65% ahead of the company\u2019s last \u201cLOTR\u201d re-release in 2024, which had 246,000 tickets sold at the same point in its sales cycle and earned $8.2 million over the weekend. For this re-release, Fathom is adding additional locations, dates and showtimes to keep up with demand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTo commemorate the anniversary, Jackson has recorded\u00a0\u201cexclusive, lengthy welcome fan introductions\u201d for each of the three respective extended editions, Fathom says. Already it\u2019s a longer sit for audiences: While the original \u201cLord of the Rings\u201d theatrical cuts had clocked in at nine-plus hours, the extended editions are cumulatively 11 and a half hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe \u2018Lord of the Rings\u2019 trilogy\u00a0re-release\u00a0is off to record start for the franchise at\u00a0Fathom. We could not be more pleased that the large\u00a0\u2018Lord of the Rings\u2019\u00a0fanbase will have the benefit of hearing in-depth and exclusively in theatre from Peter Jackson himself prior to each of these three remarkable films,\u201d said\u00a0Ray Nutt, CEO at\u00a0Fathom\u00a0Entertainment. \u201cThe extended editions of the trilogy of\u00a0\u2018The Lord of the Rings\u2019\u00a0movies are sure to be a landmark event for fans and a high point for classic film re-releases in 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBased on the epic fantasy novels by J.R.R. Tolkien, the original \u201cLord of the Rings\u201d films has grossed nearly $3 billion worldwide and won 17 Academy Awards.
