Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle United and sign for Liverpool this summer.\"NewcastleNewcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak. <\/p>\n

Bruno Guimaraes has revealed he has had no contact with Alexander Isak, but admitted that Newcastle United ‘really miss’ the striker’s quality. Isak is training alone, having indicated his desire to leave the club despite having three years left on his contract.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old also issued a statement last week claiming promises made to him by the club have been ‘broken’ and ‘the relationship can’t continue’. Liverpool<\/a> have already seen an \u00a3110m bid rejected for the striker this summer.<\/p>\n

And addressing the situation following Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat to the Reds on Monday night<\/a>, Guimaraes revealed Newcastle’s players want the transfer saga to be resolved as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

“I haven’t had any contact with him,” he told ESPN Brasil<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We’ve been training in the mornings, and he trains at a different time, when no-one from the team is around.<\/p>\n

“As captain, and for us players, it’s a tough situation because we want to have the best players with us.<\/p>\n

“That’s something we can’t control. The club, the management, the owners are dealing with it – and I hope it gets sorted out in the best way.<\/p>\n

“We’re really missing our striker, a player who scored more than 20 goals in the Premier League<\/a> last season so, of course, he’s someone we feel the absence of.<\/p>\n

“We hope to have our best player back. But unfortunately, this is a situation that neither I nor any other player can control.”<\/p>\n

Speaking on Monday, Eddie Howe was asked about a meeting involving members of the Newcastle hierarchy and Isak before the game.<\/p>\n

He said: “I’ve not been party to talks on this for a long time now. I’ve been preparing the team and giving all my energy to the players that want to play for Newcastle. I think that’s where my energy is best put at the moment.<\/p>\n

“We want clarity, we want to move forward, we want the narrative to change because we’re in the start of the season now.<\/p>\n

“We’re into the action and we’ve got to get results, and we’ve got to try to focus on what we can control. We’ve given two really, really good performances, we’ve ended up with one point.<\/p>\n

“That’s tough for us to take, especially in this moment where you’re looking for positives to cling to.
