<\/p>\nKeane has been highly critical of the decision to hand Fernandes the captain\u2019s armband at United, with his comments following last Sunday\u2019s 1-1 draw at Fulham sparking a fresh wave of criticism for the Portuguese international.<\/p>\n
Fernandes said he was \u201cupset\u201d referee Chris Kavanagh did not apologise for bumping into him ahead of his penalty during the game at Craven Cottage.<\/p>\n
The Portugal midfielder said on Sky Sports: \u201cI was upset. Obviously, as every penalty taker, you have your own routines.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have your own things that you do. It upset me because the referee didn\u2019t apologise, and that was what triggered me in that moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been critical of him over the last year or so, but he\u2019s not going to change now. What age is he now? He\u2019s not going to get rid of those traits. We see too much of that,\u201d Keane told the latest edition of The Overlap.<\/p>\n

Keane went on to question the lack of impact Ruben Amorim has had since taking over as United manager last November and suggested he may have had as big an impact if he took over at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
“The signs aren\u2019t good and the results will tell you that,\u201d he stated. \u201cYou talk about a manager walking in the door and whatever philosophy they have about the football club.<\/p>\n
