Met \u00c9ireann has warned of some thunderstorms in the western county, with hail and lightning. The warning will remain in place until 10am today.<\/p>\n

It will be “cool by day and cold by night” over the coming days, Met \u00c9ireann said, with temperatures to drop below freezing tonight.<\/p>\n

Most areas will enjoy a dry day with some sunshine today, though there will be showers along the west coast, some turning heavy or thundery with hail. Highest temperatures will be between 5 and 9C.<\/p>\n

While tonight will be mostly dry, there will be showers in the south of the country. Frost will build up in areas where it is clear and temperatures will drop to lows of -1 to 3C.<\/p>\n

Any overnight frost or fog will clear quickly tomorrow morning on a bright and sunny day, though there will be some heavy showers, bringing a chance of hail or lightning, mainly in the south and east.<\/p>\n

7-Day Weather Forecast: January 12th to 18th<\/p>\n

There will be heavy showers in other areas later on tomorrow, with highs of 5 to 9C.<\/p>\n

As temperatures drop below freezing again on Friday night, widespread fog and freezing fog will develop. Lowest temperatures will be between -2 and 3C.<\/p>\n

Heading into the weekend, that fog will linger into Saturday morning on an overall dry but cloudy day. There will be light showers or drizzle in southern and eastern areas, with highest temperatures of 4 to 8C.<\/p>\n

Fog and frost will build up again on another chilly night on Saturday, with temperatures dropping between -2 and 3C.<\/p>\n

Mist and fog will hang around in some places on Sunday. While it will be largely dry, it is forecast to be a cloudy, dull day, and rain will arrive in the west during the afternoon and spread eastwards. Highest temperatures will be between 6 and 9C.<\/p>\n

Sunday night will bring a break in the freezing overnight temperatures with lows of 2 to 6C. Rain coming in from the Atlantic will mainly impact western areas.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to early next week, Monday is expected to be a dull and wet day with “widespread” rain and highest temperatures of 6 to 9C.<\/p>\n
