{"id":287199,"date":"2026-01-16T08:00:16","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T08:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/287199\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T08:00:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T08:00:16","slug":"rte-chief-financial-officer-to-leave-broadcaster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/287199\/","title":{"rendered":"RT\u00c9 chief financial officer to leave broadcaster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>RT\u00c9<\/strong>\u2019s chief financial officer is set to leave the broadcaster after just 18 months in the role.<\/p>\n<p>RT\u00c9 announced on Thursday night that <strong>Mari Hurley<\/strong> has decided to take up a new position outside the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Hurley will remain at RT\u00c9 until spring.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"427\" width=\"640\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/rte-chief-financial-officer-to-leave-broadcaster.jpg\" alt=\"RTE director general Kevin Bakhurst \" data-title=\"Irish presidential election\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Wire\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Wire\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"Niall Carson\" data-usage-terms=\"\"\/>RT\u00c9 director general Kevin Bakhurst said Mari Hurley had provided \u2018excellent professional advice, insight and support to me and to the leadership team\u2019 (Niall Carson\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>She joined the broadcaster in 2024 after it was hit by a number of financial scandals which resulted in the resignation of a director general, Dee Forbes, and the departure of presenter Ryan Tubridy.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Ms Hurley wished her colleagues \u201cevery success as they continue the significant transformation programme underway at RT\u00c9\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRT\u00c9 continues to perform a vital role for Irish audiences as a public service media organisation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe extensive work we have done during my time in RT\u00c9 has been an important part of the delivery of greater governance across the organisation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RT\u00c9 director general Kevin Bakhurst paid tribute to her contribution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince she joined RT\u00c9 in 2024, Mari has provided excellent professional advice, insight and support to me and to the leadership team in what has been a challenging time for the organisation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank her for the significant amount that she has achieved during her time in RT\u00c9 which has been helpful in putting the organisation back on a financially sustainable path.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMari has been meticulous in dealing with legacy issues as we put a robust governance framework in place for the future and we are grateful to her for that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to offer Mari my very best wishes for her new role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, a spokesperson for the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O\u2019Donovan said he had been informed of the resignation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe minister wishes to thank Ms Hurley for her service and wishes her well in the future.
