{"id":288483,"date":"2026-01-17T01:46:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T01:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/288483\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T01:46:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T01:46:11","slug":"jobs-at-risk-of-redundancy-at-fast-growing-financial-services-group-fintru-the-irish-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/288483\/","title":{"rendered":"Jobs at risk of redundancy at fast-growing financial services group FinTrU \u2013 The Irish News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">One of the north\u2019s fastest-growing financial services companies FinTrU has confirmed it has initiated a consultation with \u201ca number of roles\u201d at risk of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/redundancy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/redundancy\">redundancy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Darragh McCarthy\u2019s Belfast-based group, which works with banks around the world to meet legal and safety requirements, said the move followed a strategic review of the business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/fintru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/fintru\/\">FinTrU<\/a> has expanded rapidly since its formation in 2013.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Alongside the two office bases it has established in Belfast, FinTrU has become a major employer in the north-west, opening two offices in Derry and one in Letterkenny. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/business\/heron-bros-launch-bid-for-25m-industrial-investment-next-to-former-fruit-of-the-loom-site-outside-derry-IHJZAOGGNBD7RKV4IF56DHANBY\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Heron Bros launch bid for &#xA3;25m industrial investment next to former Fruit of the Loom site in Derry\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/7PEPBH7XGFCKRPPVZJ6YZIFVOQ.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/business\/unionist-peer-john-taylor-on-brink-of-selling-northern-newspaper-portfolio-to-iconic-media-3IEFZDH4JZBO7KXA4SKSXKSVWE\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Unionist peer John Taylor on brink of selling northern newspaper portfolio to Iconic Media\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/F5PZY6AFSJHBPHT7DBAEBIBEHE.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It has also set up bases in Porto, London and New York.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"The Centre for Democracy and Peace Building Fellowship, a prestigious programme, which seeks to produce the north&#x2019;s next generation of change-makers, is due to reveal its next cohort of Fellows\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/UKPOYP6M6FDJZNVNAYPUXPFXEQ.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"436\"\/>Cork-native Darragh McCarthy founded FinTrU in 2013. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The latest accounts disclosed by the firm show it had 1,419 staff on its books at the end of 2024, a year where it generated \u00a374 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FinTrU added around 400 employees across the group between 2022 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It\u2019s unclear how many roles are facing potential redundancy, but in a statement issued on Friday, a spokesperson said the changes were to ensure it \u201cremains resilient, competitive, and well positioned for long-term success\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The statement added: \u201cAs part of this process, a number of roles have entered consultation.
