James Gunn<\/a> has taken to social media to throw some cold water on two rumors regarding the DCU\u2019s Batman and The Flash. <\/p>\n

What did James Gun say about the Batman and The Flash DCU rumors? <\/p>\n

In a recent series of posts on Threads, Gunn answered some fan questions regarding upcoming projects in the DCU. For starters, Gunn was asked if recent reports that the DCU Batman<\/a> movie, Brave and the Bold<\/a>, had finished its screenplay and set a 2028 release date window, were true. According to Gunn<\/a>, the story is completely false. <\/p>\n

\u201cFiction, sorry. Screenplay isn\u2019t finished,\u201d said Gunn when asked. Gunn was also asked about rumors that a \u201csecret screen testing for Batman\u201d had occurred last year. Gunn was equally puzzled by that, saying it would be strange since neither Batman movie had started production yet. <\/p>\n

Warner Bros. Pictures<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0DC Studios<\/a>\u2019 The Brave and the Bold is being directed by\u00a0Andy Muschietti<\/a>, who previously made 2023\u2019s\u00a0The Flash<\/a>. The project was initially announced in 2023, shortly after\u00a0James Gunn<\/a>\u00a0and Peter Safran became co-CEOs and co-chairmen of DC Studios. However, there haven\u2019t been many significant updates or announcements regarding The Brave and the Bold since then.<\/p>\n

While James Gunn has previously said that his focus now is on helping Reeves and The Batman 2 release, it will be interesting to follow as we get closer to both films\u2019 potential release dates. Of course, the Brave and the Bold\u2019s release is not confirmed as of yet, so we\u2019ll have to wait for more information to come forward on it.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on Threads, Gunn responded to a fan who adamantly wanted Grant Gustin (who played The Flash<\/a> in the CW series) to return as the character in the DCU, or else fans would \u201criot.\u201d Gunn joked<\/a> that he\u2019s heard that a lot from fans, but has yet to actually see it happen. <\/p>\n

\u201cI keep being told people are going to riot over things but I am as of yet to see a riot. Love Grant by the way. I don\u2019t know what Elliot has to do with anything,\u201d Gunn said. <\/p>\n
