{"id":290805,"date":"2026-01-18T11:59:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-18T11:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/290805\/"},"modified":"2026-01-18T11:59:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-18T11:59:10","slug":"disabled-man-with-three-driving-bans-deeply-regrets-city-centre-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/290805\/","title":{"rendered":"Disabled man with three driving bans &#8216;deeply regrets&#8217; city centre collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 23-YEAR-OLD motorist with several driving bans was convicted of careless driving, causing a collision in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Limerick<\/a> city centre on March 14, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Coonan, with an address at Knockadrohid, Clare, was driving on Bridge Street in a Volkswagen Passat, while tailing a BMW. Barrister-in-Law, Donal Cronin, defending, said that Mr Coonan was driving \u201ctoo fast\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In a hearing, Limerick District Court heard that the BMW braked and Mr Coonan\u2019s car collided into the vehicle while turning onto George\u2019s Quay.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cronin BL said that all parties involved in the incident have been reimbursed with insurance, including the buildings damaged.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/crime-and-courts\/1990732\/sister-of-limerick-child-murderer-tegan-mcghee-tells-her-i-hope-you-rot-in-hell.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sister of Limerick child murderer Tegan McGhee tells her: &#8216;I hope you rot in hell&#8217;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inspector Martyn Wallace, prosecuting, outlined that the man has 17 previous convictions for road traffic offences, including driving without insurance and failing to produce a driving licence.<\/p>\n<p>The man had previously received three previous driving bans from court, for a consecutive total of two, four and six years.
