\u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d fans rushed to social media over the weekend to slam the sketch comedy over a surprising joke about two \u201cStranger Things\u201d characters having sex.<\/p>\n

The bit, titled \u201cMike in Manhattan,\u201d<\/a> featured \u201cSNL\u201d host Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) alongside his former \u201cStranger Things\u201d co-stars Caleb McLaughlin\u00a0(Lucas Sinclair) and\u00a0Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson).<\/p>\n

\u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d spoofed \u201cSex and the City\u201d with a sketch focused on Finn Wolfhard\u2019s \u201cStranger Things\u201d character, Mike Wheeler, called \u201cMike in Manhattan.\u201d Saturday Night Live\/Youtube<\/p>\n

It gave fans a look at what the characters were up to 10 years after the events of the Netflix hit\u2019s fifth and final season.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd just like that, I was in a new Upside Down,\u00a0New York, and it doesn\u2019t take a hive mind to know that after you\u2019ve dated an Eleven, even 10s fall short,\u201d Wolfhard read outloud while sitting in a restaurant writing, much like Sarah Jessica Parker\u2019s iconic Carrie Bradshaw<\/a> in \u201cSex and the City.\u201d<\/p>\n

McLaughlin and Matarazzo then show up and, with Cosmopolitan cocktails in hand, sit down at the table to discuss their sex lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cSNL\u201d and \u201cStranger Things\u201d fans were less than impressed with the \u201cdisgusting\u201d and \u201cweird\u201d joke about Lucas and Max\u2019s sex life. Netflix<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, Max and I started off hot and heavy, right?\u201d McLaughlin, as his \u201cStranger Things\u201d character Lucas, shared. \u201cThen, a couple of years in, she just lies there like she\u2019s back in that coma.\u201d<\/p>\n

In \u201cStranger Things,\u201d McLaughlin\u2019s Lucas dated Sadie Sink\u2019s Max Mayfield. Max ends up in a coma after confronting the villain Vecna<\/a> at the end of Season 4 and remains in the coma for much of the show\u2019s fifth season.<\/p>\n

\u201cSNL\u201d and \u201cStranger Things\u201d fans were less than impressed with the \u201cdisgusting\u201d and \u201cweird\u201d joke about Lucas and Max\u2019s sex life.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat kind of game was going on on SNL? These jokes were so flat and disgusting,\u201d one person tweeted.<\/a> \u201cCaleb jokes about Max and Lucas\u2019 sex life, saying she\u2019s in a coma. Dude, what the f\u2013k?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey made a joke about Lucas having sex with unconscious Max on SNL,\u201d added another. \u201cWhat has this show come to?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSorry, but that coma \u2018joke\u2019 was f\u2013king weird to me,\u201d commented a third, while a fourth shared, \u201cThat Max coma joke. SNL, you\u2019re weird for that one!\u201d<\/p>\n

But that wasn\u2019t the only \u201cSNL\u201d joke that left viewers up in arms on Saturday night, because the sketch went on to explain that Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp) couldn\u2019t join Mike, Lucas and Dustin because \u201chis coming-out scene is still going on.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Fans took to social media to express their disappointment with the \u201cSNL\u201d joke poking fun at Will\u2019s coming-out scene. Saturday Night Live\/Youtube<\/p>\n

The sketch then cut to the controversial scene<\/a> in question, which came during the penultimate episode of the Netflix show\u2019s final season and saw Will, during a monologue lasting roughly five minutes, come out to his family and friends.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuys, I\u2019m gai-ning the courage to tell you the truth, and the truth is I\u2019m gai-zing at all of your faces, and you should know that I like D\u2026and D \u2013 Dungeons and Dragons, just like you guys,\u201d Will, played in the \u201cSNL\u201d bit by cast member Jeremy Culhane, said.<\/p>\n

Fans once again rushed to social media to express their disappointment with the joke.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust saw the latest episode of SNL, they made fun of Will\u2019s coming out scene,\u201d one person tweeted.<\/a> \u201cWell it\u2019s not funny at all, not respectful at all. Especially the other three boys were present without Noah. I think they should apologize to both Noah Schnapp and Will Byers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cF\u2013k SNL I\u2019m so sick of queer ppl being the butt of everyone\u2019s f\u2013king joke,\u201d fumed another. \u201cWill Byers u deserved better, and sorry Noah that u had to go through hours of torture filming that coming out scene for everyone to treat it like a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSNL making fun of will byers being gay and sexualising max mayfield all in one night,\u201d commented a third. \u201cMe if i ordered a homophobicburger with a side of misogynyfries.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Post has reached out to \u201cSNL\u201d for comment.<\/p>\n

Other fake \u201csequels, prequels, requels and spinoffs\u201d that \u201cSNL\u201d showcased during Saturday night\u2019s episode included Joe Keery\u2019s Steve Harrington as an inner-city teacher in \u201cStrangerous Minds,\u201d Natalia Dyer\u2019s Nancy Wheeler in \u201cThe Wheeler Report,\u201d and Joe Chrest\u2019s Ted Wheeler in \u201cStranger Things: Oops! All Mike\u2019s Dad.\u201d<\/p>\n
