{"id":293175,"date":"2026-01-20T01:52:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T01:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/293175\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T01:52:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T01:52:10","slug":"northern-lights-visible-in-parts-of-ireland-due-to-powerful-storm-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/293175\/","title":{"rendered":"Northern Lights visible in parts of Ireland due to powerful storm \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Northern Lights have been visible in parts of Ireland this evening, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cork\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cork\">Cork<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kildare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kildare\">Kildare<\/a>, and could be widely visible in other parts of the country in the coming days. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Northern Lights, which are rarely sighted in Ireland, are the results of \u201ccollisions between gas particles in our atmosphere and charged particles ejected from the Sun\u2019s atmosphere\u201d, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/met-eireann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/met-eireann\/\">Met \u00c9ireann<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Cloud cover can hinder visibility, although Met \u00c9ireann forecasts that there will be clear spells.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The colour of the Northern Lights will change due to the type of gas particles that are colliding, Met \u00c9ireann said. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Green light covers the sky near Narraghmore, Co Kildare.
