At the time, she said she\u2019d be absent from Today for a few weeks and had to stay completely silent during the recovery process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">However, she\u2019s going back to work soon, which she announced during a virtual appearance on Today Tuesday. During the segment, she also debuted her new voice, which she previously described as \u201cvery scratchy\u201d before her vocal surgery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cYou know what, I think it\u2019d be easier for me to just talk!\u201d she said, after initially using her whiteboard to write \u201clove you\u201d to her co-workers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">However, Guthrie said she can only talk for a certain amount of time each day as she continues her recovery.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Savannah Guthrie is returning to Today on Monday, January 26 (Today)\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/b7ed36f8ec21318a1726f2318e2f0383.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Savannah Guthrie is returning to Today on Monday, January 26 (Today)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI am still on vocal rest, but I\u2019m allowed to talk for five to 10 minutes every hour,\u201d she explained. \u201cThis is my new voice or my old voice, but my new voice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While TV host Al Roker told her her voice \u201csounded the same,\u201d broadcaster Craig Melvin disagreed and said it sounded \u201cmarkedly better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI think the good news is that it worked!\u201d Guthrie said about the surgery fixing her scratchy voice. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of slow recovery. You\u2019re allowed to talk, and if you talk too much, which is a real risk for me, you start to feel it, so you just have to take it easy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She then shared that she\u2019ll officially be back on Today, as the usual daytime host, in less than a week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI\u2019m gonna come back to the show, I think, next Monday, but Friday I\u2019m going to come, and we\u2019re gonna do a little story about just what this whole thing has been like and the surgery,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When announcing her planned absence from the show in December, Guthrie referenced a clip from The Brady Bunch of Peter Brady\u2019s voice cracking while he sang.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cSome of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit like Peter Brady, who was going through a change,\u201d she said on <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.news.yahoo.com\/today-cast-shake-long-time-174158606.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Today;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWell, I have found out what it is. I have vocal nodules, and now I also have a polyp. It\u2019s not a big, big deal, but I am going to have a surgery real early in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks,\u201d Guthrie added. \u201cSo it\u2019s my last day for a little while. So I just want to let everyone know, and if you\u2019ve been wondering, do I have the world\u2019s longest head cold? No, I don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">At the time, she also said that she was looking forward to fixing her scratchy voice. \u201cI\u2019m really excited about it,\u201d she explained. \u201cThis has been going on for years, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Guthrie shared a health update days later on Instagram, including a photo of herself with a dry-erase board that read: \u201cAll good!
