authorities have signalled a new wave of measures to bolster domestic demand and hi-tech industries in the coming year, as Beijing seeks to rebalance growth and shore up momentum during its next five-year plan.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, China\u2019s top economic planner announced initiatives to boost consumption and technology investments, while the finance ministry unveiled programmes offering financial support to individuals and small businesses, following <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/economic-indicators\/article\/3340360\/chinas-gdp-rises-5-2025-us-trade-war-fails-knock-economy-course?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">mixed economic data<\/a> for 2025 released the day before.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Officials were now drafting an implementation plan to expand domestic demand from 2026 to 2030, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said at its press conference.<\/p>\n<p>A series of major projects in hi-tech industries would also be launched over the coming five years, reinforcing the country\u2019s <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/china-economy\/article\/3338302\/chinas-next-decade-cement-status-hi-tech-manufacturing-powerhouse-reports?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">prowess in advanced manufacturing<\/a>, which now accounts for more than 17 per cent of the added value of large-scale industries, according to officials.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cWe believe that consumption and investment, technology and industry, and urban and rural development will all unleash significant development potential,\u201d said Zhou Chen, head of the NDRC\u2019s department of national economy, about the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>New energy, aerospace, <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/business\/china-business\/article\/3334538\/china-bets-bio-manufacturing-new-growth-engine-bid-tech-self-reliance?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">biomanufacturing<\/a> and artificial intelligence are among the growth drivers poised for take-off, he
