COPENHAGEN, Jan 20 (Reuters) – Danish pension fund AkademikerPension said \u200con Tuesday it would sell off its holding of U.S. Treasuries, worth some $100 million, by the end of this month, blaming \u200cweak U.S. government finances.<\/p>\n

AkademikerPension said the \u200bdecision was not intended as a political statement linked to the rift between \u200dDenmark and the United States over Greenland.<\/p>\n

“The decision is rooted in the poor U.S. government finances, \u2060which make us think that we \u200dneed to make an effort to find an \u200calternative \u200cway of conducting our liquidity and risk management,” Investment Director Anders Schelde said in a written statement.<\/p>\n

“Thus, it is not \u2060directly related \u2060to \u200bthe ongoing rift between the U.S. and Europe, but of course that didn’t make it more \u200ddifficult to take the decision,” he added.<\/p>\n

AkademikerPension has in total 164 billion Danish crowns ($25.74 billion) \u200bunder management, it said \u200don its website.<\/p>\n
