The 75-year-old actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> Live on Wednesday as he recalled a shocking moment at 33-year-old Gomez’s wedding back in September as her ex Justin Bieber recently sparked social media frenzy over her<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Short explained: ‘The wedding was perfect. It was beautiful, Everything was perfect, except, the night of the reception… it was a big, big party, imagine a stage, dance floor, musicians.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘At the back of the tent were these individual seating areas with couches and chairs. So if you had a group \u2014 we had a group [of] Only Murders in the Building [cast and crew], there was about 12 of us. All of us together.’<\/p>\n

He then went on to make the shocking revelation that he had accidentally cut into Gomez and Blanco’s, 37, wedding cake.<\/p>\n

Short continued: ‘And there was a wedding cake by our section but it was a small wedding cake. I just assumed there was a wedding cake for each section in the back.’<\/p>\n

He goes onto explain that a few hours passed by at the party and their fellow co-star Steve Martin, 80, was about to leave.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Short said: ‘Maybe I\u2019d had a cocktail, I don\u2019t know. So I said, “Oh Steve you can\u2019t leave” \u2014 I had a fork in my hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘”You can\u2019t leave yet without a piece of wedding cake.” And I cut the wedding cake, one side, cut it the other and then all the people in our group scream, “Marty!”‘<\/p>\n

He found out then that it was the actual wedding cake as a photo was shown of the ‘just married’ heart-shaped cake was shown on the screen leading the audience to gasp.<\/p>\n

Short said: ‘I tried to fix it with a fork.\u00a0This was bad. This was about an hour before it was to be presented. And so I turned to Paul Rudd and said, “So, do we just leave?”‘<\/p>\n

The stars went on to talk to the wedding coordinator who brought the chef out.<\/p>\n

Short explained: ‘Then they did surgery but it ended up being like a Hollywood wedding cake and that it was beautiful but now it had a little work done.’<\/p>\n

They then proceeded to show a photo of Gomez and Blanco kissing behind the cake after it had been fixed.<\/p>\n

He went on to say that he and Martin attempted to keep the incident from pal and co-star Gomez but word did get around to her.<\/p>\n

Short explained: ‘I\u00a0kept saying, “No, guys, we can\u2019t let Selena know.” And Steve said, “Yeah, maybe we tell her in a month or something.”<\/p>\n

‘And then as I was leaving, Selena came by [and said], “Hey Marty, I heard you tried to eat my cake.”‘<\/p>\n

Back in September, Gomez\u00a0\u00a0posted a suite of romantic photos with music producer Blanco as she offered a glimpse into their wedding extravaganza before the couple married at a ceremony in front of celebrity pals including BFF Taylor Swift<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gomez wed her fianc\u00e9 of nine months Blanco<\/a>\u00a0at a 70-acre private estate, just north of Santa Barbara, in\u00a0California<\/a>\u00a0on September 27, 2025.<\/p>\n

Gomez and Blanco had a relatively short engagement and announced they would wed early in December 2024<\/a> in an Instagram post she captioned: ‘Forever begins now.’<\/p>\n

Gomez’s marriage to Virginia native Blanco marks a new chapter in what was once a turbulent love life that included a high-profile relationship with Canadian singer Justin Bieber<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a 2020 interview with NPR, Gomez described the relationship as ‘toxic’ adding: ‘I’m not being disrespectful.<\/p>\n

‘I do feel I was a victim to certain [emotional] abuse.’<\/p>\n

Although Gomez met Blanco while she was in her teens, neither remembered the meeting and the pair only became friends after collaborating on the March 2019 tune I Can’t Get Enough<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The video featured Blanco dressed as a white teddy bear but romance didn’t blossom until they collaborated again years later on Single Soon, her August 2023 smash hit.<\/p>\n

By December the same year, the couple confirmed they were an item, with Gomez declaring online of Blanco<\/a>: ‘[He is the] best thing that’s ever happened to me.
