{"id":298937,"date":"2026-01-23T05:41:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T05:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/298937\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T05:41:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T05:41:09","slug":"ring-can-verify-videos-now-but-that-might-not-help-you-with-most-ai-fakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/298937\/","title":{"rendered":"Ring can verify videos now, but that might not help you with most AI fakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Ring has launched a new Ring Verify tool that <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ring.com\/about-ring\/your-ring-videos-verified\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the company says<\/a> can \u201cverify that Ring videos you receive haven\u2019t been edited or changed.\u201d But since Ring won\u2019t verify videos that have been altered in any way, it probably won\u2019t be able to verify those videos you see on TikTok that look like they\u2019re from security camera footage but are actually <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@verge\/video\/7572652272799321399\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">made with AI<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">All videos downloaded from Ring\u2019s cloud now include a \u201cdigital security seal,\u201d Ring says. To check and to see if a video is authentic, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/ring.pxf.io\/c\/482924\/3022805\/30431?u=https%3A%2F%2Fring.com%2Fpages%2Fverify\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Ring Verify website<\/a> and select a video from your device to upload it. When Ring Verify says a video is \u201cverified,\u201d that means \u201cthe video hasn\u2019t been changed in any way since it was downloaded from Ring.\u201d (Ring Verify is built on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/8\/21\/24223932\/c2pa-standard-verify-ai-generated-images-content-credentials\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">C2PA standards<\/a>, according to spokesperson Kaleigh Bueckert-Orme.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Any change to the video, including something small like tweaking the brightness, will make a video fail the test. Ring cannot verify videos that \u201cwere downloaded before this feature launched in December 2025, or videos that have been edited, cropped, filtered, or altered in any way after download (even trimming a second, adjusting brightness, or cropping)\u201d or \u201cvideos uploaded to video sharing sites which compress the video.\u201d Videos recorded with end-to-end encryption turned on can\u2019t be verified, either.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">If Ring can\u2019t verify the video as authentic, it also can\u2019t tell you exactly what was changed about it. \u201cRing\u2019s verification only confirms that a video has not been modified at all since download,\u201d Ring says.
