Five teenage boys have been arrested following an alleged serious sexual assault on a schoolgirl.<\/p>\n
The attack was at least partially recorded and the video was circulated.<\/p>\n
And the video was sent to the young alleged victim, it is understood.<\/p>\n
The five boys were arrested on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
They were released without charge pending files being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.<\/p>\n
The DPP will then decide whether to bring a criminal prosecution against the boys.<\/p>\n
The alleged teenage victim met her alleged attackers with friends in Dublin city centre.<\/p>\n
The group were consuming alcohol before the alleged serious sexual assaults by a number of boys on the girl, it is understood.<\/p>\n
The investigation is being led by the Divisional Protective Services Unit. Garda\u00ed in these units are specially trained to deal with sexual crime, child protection, domestic abuse and human trafficking.<\/p>\n
A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Examiner: “All five persons arrested and detained were questioned in respect of the alleged offence and have been released without charge, pending a file to the DPP.”<\/p>\n
The juveniles were interviewed by specialist garda child interviewers.<\/p>\n
