A Dwayne Johnson<\/a><\/strong> movie that flopped at the box office is now available to stream on HBO Max<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In recent years, Johnson has starred in major blockbuster movies like 2023\u2019s Fast X, 2024\u2019s Red One, and 2024\u2019s Moana 2. He\u2019ll soon be seen playing a live-action version of Maui in the Moana remake dated for later this year, while he\u2019s also reprising his Jumanji role in a forthcoming sequel.<\/p>\n

What Dwayne Johnson movie is now streaming on Max?<\/p>\n

In 2025, Johnson played Mark Kerr in A24<\/a> and Benny Safdie<\/a>\u2019s movie The Smashing Machine<\/a>, which is now available to stream on HBO Max.<\/p>\n

The Smashing Machine was Johnson\u2019s worst box office opening of his career, as the movie only opened to $5.9 million domestically. In total, the movie only made around $21 million worldwide off of an estimated $50 million production budget.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Johnson said he was proud of the movie after it underperformed. He wrote on Instagram<\/a>, \u201cFrom deep in my grateful bones, thank you to everyone who has watched The Smashing Machine. In our storytelling world, you can\u2019t control box office results \u2014 but what I realized you can control is your performance, and your commitment to completely disappear and go elsewhere. And I will always run to that opportunity. It was my honor to transform in this role for my director Benny Safdie. Thank you brother for believing in me. Truth is this film has changed my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

While there was some Oscar buzz surrounding The Smashing Machine, the movie only received one Oscar nomination, which is for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Other nominees include Frankenstein, Kokuho, Sinners, and The Ugly Stepsister, with the winner to be announced on Sunday, March 15. The Smashing Machine did, however, receive Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor \u2014 Drama and Best Supporting Actress \u2014 Motion Picture (Emily Blunt).<\/p>\n

The synopsis for The Smashing Machine reads, \u201cThe story of legendary mixed martial arts & UFC fighter Mark Kerr.\u201d In addition to Johnson and Blunt as Dawn Staples, the movie stars Ryan Bader as Mark Coleman and Bas Rutten as himself.<\/p>\n
