I don\u2019t wanna be contributing to that\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The iconic indie band appeared on triple j\u2019s \u2018Like A Version\u2019 where they took on the track.<\/p>\n<p>Frontman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/alex-kapranos\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Kapranos<\/a> explained that their cover doesn\u2019t feature a saxophone as the original song does, with the band instead opting for a \u201creally rough, raw\u201d sound on the synthesiser to give the song a \u201csleazy vibe\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a really really good song,\u201d he said, with bassist Bob Hardy adding, \u201cit\u2019s a banger\u201d, in an interview following their performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt puts me in a great mood whenever I listen to it,\u201d Kapranos continued. \u201cIt\u2019s great when you see a band and everything they put out just seems to be even better than what they did before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cit\u2019s one of those riffs that should have always existed, like it\u2019s always been there. It\u2019s very cool. Amy\u2019s lyric is so good, it\u2019s so bare and open and dark at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about putting their own spin on it, Kapranos added: \u201cI knew that I was never gonna be able to sing like Amy [Taylor] \u2013 we\u2019re different personalities, we have different voices, different accents, different ways of doing it. For me, it was more about tuning into the energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Check out the cover, and the interview, below.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, Amyl &amp; The Sniffers\u2019 recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/amyl-the-sniffers-pick-up-35000-bar-tab-after-free-melbourne-gig-was-cancelled-3908969\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">picked up bar tabs of $35,000 for fans in Melbourne<\/a>, after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/free-amyl-the-sniffers-melbourne-show-shut-down-after-huge-crowd-breach-barricade-3908597\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">their free show was cancelled at the last minute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/music-interviews\/amyl-and-the-sniffers-interview-cartoon-darkness-3803607\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amyl &amp; The Sniffers spoke to\u00a0NME\u00a0about their growing fanbase<\/a>\u00a0and how they found the inspiration for \u2018Cartoon Darkness\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve evolved in so many different ways,\u201d said drummer Bryce Wilson. \u201cFurther than pub rock or punk rock kinda thing. Not better or worse or anything, just different branches of a tree.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about how their latest album saw them tackle wider societal issues, including prejudice and sexism, Taylor added: \u201cI was intimidated by politics. I didn\u2019t grow up around it that much. I finished high school, but barely. It\u2019s really easy to feel kind of ashamed of yourself for not being sure how to get your foot in it, or to get the confidence to speak out about stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t just wanna be singing about crap. The world\u2019s filled with junk \u2013 layers and layers and layers of junk. Pointless crap. I don\u2019t wanna be contributing to that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Franz Ferdinand, the iconic indie band drew a huge crowd at Glastonbury\u2019s The Other Stage last year, despite competing with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/lewis-capaldi-plays-emotional-redemptive-pyramid-stage-set-at-glastonbury-2025-im-fucking-back-baby-3873209\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a secret set from Lewis Capaldi<\/a>\u00a0over on the main Pyramid Stage.<\/p>\n<p>For their set, they broke out classics like \u2018Take Me Out\u2019, and also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/peter-capaldi-joins-franz-ferdinand-for-take-me-out-at-glastonbury-2025-3873204\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">invited out Peter Capaldi and rising indie rapper Master Peace as special guests<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They spoke to NME at the festival, with Kapranos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/franz-ferdinands-alex-kapranos-on-his-first-ever-glastonbury-experience-3876637\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sharing details of his first-ever Glastonbury experience back when he was 18<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Their latest album, 2025\u2019s \u2018The Human Fear\u2019 was given <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/franz-ferdinand-the-human-fear-album-review-lyrics-tracklist-3826375\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a glowing four-star review from\u00a0NME<\/a>\u00a0with Andrew Trendell writing: \u201cIt\u2019s a love letter to the idea of this band.
