{"id":300799,"date":"2026-01-24T06:00:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T06:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/300799\/"},"modified":"2026-01-24T06:00:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T06:00:18","slug":"best-buy-preps-shutdown-in-san-jose-ahead-of-fitness-center-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/300799\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Buy preps shutdown in San Jose ahead of fitness center opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN JOSE \u2014 The Best Buy store at Santana Row in San Jose is preparing to close its doors and eliminate dozens of jobs as a fitness center gets ready to take over the space.<\/p>\n<p>The retail store\u2019s closure is expected to eliminate 60 jobs at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2025\/06\/05\/san-jose-santana-row-fitness-health-athletic-economy-property-build\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the 3090 Stevens Creek Blvd. location<\/a>, according to an official notice the company sent to the state Employment Development Department.<\/p>\n<p>The cuts are scheduled to take effect around March 17, the WARN notice shows. The layoffs are permanent because the store is closing.<\/p>\n<p>At least some of the 60 affected employees will have the opportunity to land jobs at another Best Buy location, according to the WARN notice.<\/p>\n<p>Life Time, a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.lifetime.life\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">company that describes itself<\/a> as an \u201cathletic country club,\u201d has already signed a lease to occupy the space that Best Buy will vacate.<\/p>\n<p>The building totals 60,000 square feet and is two stories, according to Property Shark.
