The payment tech or platform that we are referring to is Apple Pay. The tech is already a part of millions of users across the globe, and is very much a domninant payments platform in the United States (US). India is a natural curve for Apple to launch this tech in. The Indian market has hundreds of millions of users who utilise UPI (Unified Payments Interface) to make payments through apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Cred and more.

Read More – OnePlus Nord 6 Is Likely the Device You Will Not Ignore

Would the launch of Apple Pay be a lethal move for Google Pay and PhonePe? Not exactly.

You see, Apple Pay is only going to start with acting as a platform which can hold cards of the users for contactless payments. This is something which Samsung already offers via Samsung Wallet, and that hasn’t really scaled much. As for UPI, a Business Standard report suggests that Apple is not looking to go that way for the time being.

Read More – iQOO 15R Launch in India Soon

UPI is a whole different ball game and would require the company to get plenty of regulatory approvals before going ahead. Apple looks at India as a very important market. This would also be the right time for the company to launch Apple Pay in India because now the number of people who own and use an iPhone have gone up.

Apple Pay is operated by Apple Payments Services, a subsidiary of Apple. Once it is available in India, users will be able to store their cards in that digitally and make payments via NFC. This is something Indians can already do, so we don’t see anything new here. It will be interesting to see the uptake of the platform in the country.

Most readers read for free.
A small group from the TelecomTalk community keeps this going.
Support only if our work adds value for you.

Subscribe

Apple, one of the most valulable tech companies globally is eyeing its eyes on India to launch its…

[257
11862,18,4980,19,17,279,4979,82
0":"post-301267","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mobile","8":"tag-apple-pay","9":"tag-eire","10":"tag-google-pay","11":"tag-ie","12":"tag-ireland","13":"tag-mobile","14":"tag-phonepe","15":"tag-technology
["GET
