It’s for 159 residential units made up of nine terraced townhouses and 150 apartments.

The apartments will be within two blocks, which will be between six to 10 storeys and seven to 11 storeys. There will also be a work/lounge space, communal gym and a cinema room within the complex.

This is the latest phase of development in a housing scheme called Sea Gardens that will expand into land alongside the current site. This phase of development was met with multiple objections from within the locality.

Several phases of the overall development have previously been approved in 2021 and 2022. This phase is known as the “Coast Quarter” and is located closest to the Irish coastline.

Concerns about the development included its scale, an overdevelopment of the site and that it will cause a loss of light and privacy. There were also concerns surrounding the impact of the development on the landscape of Bray and the pending Luas green line extension.

Additional information was requested on the application. This related to site areas, private amenity areas and environmental impact. A collision risk assessment for bats and birds, and updated visual impact images were also requested.

The decision to grant permission for the development was given on January 16 by Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. The planner’s report stated: “The proposed development is considered to have been designed and finished to a very high standard which will provide good quality housing to the area.”

Join our Dublin Live breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive your daily dose of Dublin Live content.
