You either are enamored by them or just completely turned off by the idea of them. There’s little in between. However, if you’re in the former group of people who see smart glasses as being the future of personal devices, we’ve got a deal for you. Amazon has the XREAL 1S AR Glasses on sale at the moment for 18% off. Normally sold for $549, you can grab a pair for just $449 for a limited time. That discount ends up taking them down by an even $100.

There are some practical reasons to owning a pair of AR glasses. The XREAL 1S AR glasses can allow you to fully immerse yourself in the media you watch or play by projecting a virtual screen that appears at cinematic scale. You can watch a movie or your favorite TV show on a breathtakingly huge screen that looks to be up to 500 inches in size wherever you are. You can be commuting to work, traveling by place, or just hanging out on the couch and enjoy your own personal cinema right there with you. It even supports the Nintendo Switch 2 so you can explore the alien planet Viewros in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, seen through Samus Aran’s HUD all on your own HUD.

See at Amazon

Viewing media allows for three different dim levels for better immersion. You can choose Clear mode which just will display the video without adjusting anything outside of the frame. Shade mode will darken in slightly to allow for easier focus on your video content, while still being aware of your surroundings. Theatre mode fully blacks out everything else so all you see if the movie, show, or game you have going.

You can also choose to anchor the screen in place, so as you move about, it stays perfectly in place from your perspective. Or you can set it to follow mode which will anchor the screen to the glasses movement.

Premium Display Quality

The display quality is sharp and smooth, with a 120Hz refresh rate in 3DoF mode and 90Hz at a default globally, eliminating flicker and blur. Everything looks crisp from the edge to the center of the lens in 1200P HD resolution and advanced optical alignment is put to use to make sure all images are aligned to your eyes and not shifting out of focus.

Beyond visual quality, audio has been given the meticulous attention it deserves as well. Powered by Bose, the custom open-ear audio system allows for spacious and balanced soundstage that’s able to produce deep bass with clear mids and highs along with elevated vocal quality. I realize this bit will be covered when worn, but I gotta say it is endless funny to me to have a pair a glasses that have the words SOUND BY BOSE printed along the side in big bold letter.

See at Amazon

Wearables are an interesting product category.
