That is the same chip that is used in Apple’s latest iPhones and Apple Watch devices, and allows more precise location when tracking down items with the Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or the Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Apple has also upgraded the Bluetooth chip in the tag, expanding the range at which items can be located its finding range by up to 50 per cent when compared with its predecessor.

The new speaker is also designed to be louder than the original version of the AirTag.

Bluetooth tags can be attached to everything from keys to luggage to keep track of items on the move. The AirTag taps into the power of Apple’s Find My network to locate lost items, relaying their location to the owner and allowing them to track their valuables down. That extends to lost bags, with owners now able to share the location of an AirTag attached to luggage with airlines.

The new AirTag costs €35 for a single tag, or €115 for a four-pack.

AirTags need a compatible iPhone with iOS 26 or later, or iPad with iPadOS 26 or later.

That rules out Android users, but there are other options out there.

Pebblebee Clip 5

The Pebblebee Clip 5 is a rechargeable Bluetooth tracker that has a clip on design, making it easy to attach to your keys, bag or other valuable item. It works with Android’s Find Hub and Apple’s Find My, tapping into the power of your chosen network. It also has an LED light and a vibration alert to help you track down your item. Plus it comes in multiple colours, with limited edition colour runs that drop periodically.

Chipolo Loop

Like the Clip 5, the Chipolo Loop can tap into the Android and Apple networks, so you don’t need a stand-alone app to track down your phone. It also has a built-in clip so you can attach it to your keyring or bag. You can also use the tag to track down your phone, even if it is in silent mode. Press the button and open up your ears.

Tile Mate & Pro

Tile is another neutral platform, offering tags that will work with both Apple and Google’s smart devices. It has its own network to help locate lost items remotely – no Apple or Android network integration yet – and you can choose between the longer range Tile Pro or the more budget friendly Tile Mate. It has a built in SOS button in case you need help, alerting your chosen contacts.

Samsung SmartTag2

The updated Smart Tag has a replaceable battery that should work for more than a year – 500 days is the official timescale – and can be just slipped on to your keys

You can also use it for triggering IoT devices, for example triggering your internet-connected lights as you return home. The downside is that it is only for use with Samsung Galaxy devices.

Switchbot Safety Alarm

Is it a tracker? Is it a safety alarm? It’s actually both. The Switchbot Safety Alarm not only pinpoints the location of the carrier (or object it is attached to) but it can also be used as a personal safety device. Pull the pin and before you can say “surprise!” an alarm sounds and an alert is sent with your location to your nominated emergency contact.

Apple has unveiled an updated version of its AirTag, with a longer range and louder speaker to help…

[74
311,18,19,17,31919,82
0":"post-304926","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-technology","8":"tag-apple","9":"tag-eire","10":"tag-ie","11":"tag-ireland","12":"tag-tech-tools","13":"tag-technology
["GET
