EastEnders star James Farrar has confirmed that his character Zack Hudson will soon be linked to the Slater family with an exciting new job.<\/p>\n

Zack was recently left unemployed when Ravi\u2019s restaurant Walford East was shut down<\/a> and he lost his job as the restaurant\u2019s chef.<\/p>\n

While Zack seems to still be looking for work, we now know what the future holds for his career, as it\u2019s been confirmed exclusively to us that he will soon return to The Vic as the pub\u2019s chef.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to us at a photoshoot<\/a> for the Inside Soap Awards 2025<\/a>, James says he\u2019s looking forward to being back at his previous workplace and getting involved with the Slaters, who are now running the pub.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s nice to be in the centre of the drama with the Slaters,” he said. “Obviously Zoe Slater<\/a> doesn\u2019t get on with my family too well\u2026 but it\u2019s nice. I started the show in The Vic kitchen, and now I\u2019m back there. I was with the Carters before, and now I\u2019m with the Slaters.”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a big year for Zack on the show, with one highlight being his and Teddy\u2019s dramatic car crash stunt in May where it briefly looked like he had perished in the water<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Zack\u2019s big stunt with the Mitchells, I would say, is up there with the best moments in my acting career,” reflected James.<\/p>\n

“With Chris McGill [the director of the stunt], the rest of the cast, everybody out in the woods that night, we stayed on location. It was epic, and I still watch it to this day \u2013 and the doof doof was one of my favourites ever!”<\/p>\n

While Zack\u2019s attempts to build a relationship with his secret son Barney<\/a> have died down for now, James believes that this huge story is far from over\u2026<\/p>\n

He said: “I think Zack is like a dog with a bone, and he\u2019ll continue to fight for everything that he believes in. It\u2019s family first, always.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s sad not to have Dolly and Whitney on the scene, so it\u2019d be sad for him not to fight for Barney. But you know what happens when he fights for Barney \u2013 he gets chucked in a lake!”<\/p>\n

Asked why fans should get behind EastEnders in the Best Soap category this year, James replied: “Why should EastEnders win \u2013 why shouldn\u2019t they? I think the 40th [anniversary] was groundbreaking, and New Year\u2019s was probably one of my favourite bits of EastEnders ever.<\/p>\n

“I just think we\u2019re smashing it across the board. Ben [Wadey, executive producer] in the new era has brought back characters who everybody wanted to see, characters I never thought would come. So I think EastEnders for Best Soap!”<\/p>\n
