Corriedale <\/strong>spoilers follow. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Corriedale may have only been a one-off special affair (at least for now), but its legacy lives on. Despite airing just over three weeks ago, the episode is continuing to draw in a large viewership on the small screen and on streaming.<\/p>\n

The highly-anticipated instalment saw the worlds of Coronation Street<\/a> and Emmerdale<\/a> collide in a special crossover episode, with various characters from each respective ITV soap being embroiled in a dramatic storyline following a multi-vehicle collision.<\/p>\n

While the aftermath of the incident has affected characters from each soap, the episode itself is still maintaining a strong audience, with Barb<\/a> reporting that it’s currently at #5 in the UK TV chart for that week of broadcasting. <\/p>\n

This comes after ITV confirmed that the special was the most-viewed episode from any UK drama<\/a> since Call the Midwife in February 2025, with the broadcaster welcoming the ratings in a statement.<\/p>\n

“The impressive live overnight audience figures are the highest live TV ratings for a soap in over a year, and the biggest TV peak audience for a soap since 2022 (outside of Christmas Day episodes),” it said. <\/p>\n

Corriedale saw several storylines converge, but it was perhaps the death of Billy Mayhew that was the most dramatic incident on the night. As he attempted to free Todd Grimshaw from the shackles of the evil Theo Silverton, Billy was left to die by the villain.<\/p>\n

It brought an end to Daniel Brocklebank’s 12-year stint on Corrie as the beloved character, and ITV soap boss Iain MacLeod paid tribute to the actor<\/a> following the airing of his dramatic final scenes. <\/p>\n

“You want stuff that pays off in a really big, final way,” said the producer. “So, Corriedale has a climatic element to it. Hats off to Daniel, who obviously shot his final scenes for this episode.<\/p>\n

“He was an amazing presence in the show, both on and off screen. So that was a big ending, but it’s also the beginning of us realising the true depths of depravity to which Theo might sink.” <\/p>\n

Coronation Street<\/strong> airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on <\/strong>ITVX<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
