That was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/space-exploration-technologies\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SpaceX<\/a>, which vaulted to the top of the list when it was valued at $800 billion in a secondary market transaction, double its valuation from just three months earlier.<\/p>\n<p>And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/databricks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Databricks<\/a>, the seventh-most highly valued private company at $134 billion, was also valued up from its $100 billion valuation months earlier.<\/p>\n<p>New unicorns in December<\/p>\n<p>Of the new unicorns last month, 15 were U.S.-based, two hail from China, and six are based in Europe, including two from the U.K. and one each from Germany, France, Finland and Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>Financial services, aerospace and AI led with the highest count of new companies to join.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth noting that a third of these companies were more than 10 years old, with some seeing a reacceleration in their business driven by AI.<\/p>\n<p>On the other end of the spectrum, the fastest to reach unicorn status in December was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/unconventional-ai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Unconventional AI<\/a>, which raised its seed round at a $4.5 billion value.<\/p>\n<p>Here are December\u2019s 23 newly minted unicorns.<\/p>\n<p>Fintech<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Crypto-focused digital bank <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/erebor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Erebor<\/a>, co-founded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/person\/palmer-luckey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Palmer Luckey<\/a>, raised a $350 million funding led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/lux-capital\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lux Capital<\/a>. The company was granted conditional approval by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/office-of-the-comptroller-of-the-currency\/profiles_and_contacts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Office of the Comptroller of the Currency<\/a>\u00a0 in late 2025. The 5-year-old San Francisco-based company was valued at $1.5 billion.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/octane-lending\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Octane<\/a>, a loan provider for outdoor equipment, RVs and power sports raised a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.crunchbase.com\/venture\/recreational-lifestyle-fintech-octane-lands-seriesf-unicorn-valuation\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$100 million Series F<\/a> led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/valar-ventures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Valar Ventures<\/a>. The funding was part equity and part secondary financing. The 11-year-old New York-based company was valued at $1.3 billion and has generated over $7.5 billion in loans.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/imprint-cd0f\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Imprint<\/a>, a provider of co-branded credit cards and payment plans for brands to build loyalty, raised a $150 million Series D led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/khosla-ventures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Khosla Ventures<\/a>. The 5-year-old New York-based company was valued at $1.2 billion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Aerospace<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/k2-space-ffe7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">K2 Space<\/a>, a builder of powerful satellites, raised a $250 million Series C led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/redpoint-ventures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Redpoint<\/a>. The 3-year-old Torrance, California-based company was valued at $3 billion.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Finland-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/iceye\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Iceye<\/a>, which operates satellites for military and commercial intelligence, raised a $175 million Series E led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/general-catalyst-partners\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">General Catalyst<\/a>. The 12-year-old company was valued at $2.8 billion.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/hawkeye-360-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HawkEye 360<\/a>, a provider of satellites detecting radio frequency emissions for the U.S. government and its partners, raised a $150 million Series E led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/center15-capital\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Center15 Capital<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/nightdragon-security\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NightDragon<\/a> at a value of $1 billion. As part of the deal, the 10-year-old Herndon, Virginia-based company acquired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/innovative-signal-analysis\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Innovative Signal Analysis<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AI<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/unconventional-ai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Unconventional AI<\/a>, a new startup from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/mosaic-ml\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MosaicML<\/a> founder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/person\/naveen-rao\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Naveen Rao<\/a> that was acquired by Databricks, plans to build an energy-efficient computer for AI. The company raised a $475 million seed round led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/andreessen-horowitz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andreessen Horowitz<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/lightspeed-venture-partners\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lightspeed Venture Partners<\/a>. The 1-year-old San Francisco-based company was valued at $1.3 billion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Energy<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Energy software provider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/kraken-5416\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kraken<\/a>, raised a $1 billion funding led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/d1-capital-partners\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">D1 Capital Partners<\/a>, with plans to separate from its parent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/octopus-energy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Octopus Energy<\/a>. The 6-year-old El Segundo, California-based company was valued at $1.8 billion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>E-commerce<\/p>\n<p>Marketing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Customer relationship marketing service <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/brevo-france\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brevo<\/a>, which manages a CRM and communication across emails through to messaging and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/whatsapp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WhatsApp<\/a> aided by AI, raised a $583 million private equity round led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/general-atlantic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">General Atlantic<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/oakley-capital\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oakley Capital<\/a>. The 18-year-old Paris-based company was valued at $1.2 billion.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Synthetic AI marketing research company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/aaru\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aaru<\/a>\u00a0 raised a Series A led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/redpoint-ventures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Redpoint<\/a> reported to be above $50 million <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/12\/05\/ai-synthetic-research-startup-aaru-raised-a-series-a-at-a-1b-headline-valuation\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">per TechCrunch<\/a>. The funding was raised at different valuations, giving investors access at a lower value for part of the funding. The 1-year-old New York-based company was valued at $1 billion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>DevOps<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/serval-a045\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Serval<\/a>, an IT ticketing management platform reimagined with AI, raised a $75 million Series B led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crunchbase.com\/organization\/sequoia-capital\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sequoia Capital<\/a>.
