{"id":308340,"date":"2026-01-28T17:24:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T17:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/308340\/"},"modified":"2026-01-28T17:24:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T17:24:07","slug":"aspirin-prices-rise-1000-amid-supply-shortage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/308340\/","title":{"rendered":"Aspirin prices &#8216;rise 1000%&#8217; amid supply shortage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">About 50.9 million items of aspirin were prescribed in the UK between January and October last, the NPA said, making it one of the most commonly prescribed drugs in the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Patients needing a regular supply include those with a history of strokes, heart disease, chronic kidney disease and diabetes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Suppliers have said that they are having difficulty in manufacturing, it could be due to a difficulty in obtaining raw materials from Europe but we haven&#8217;t been told the specifics but we know there is certainly an issue around getting supplies into the UK,&#8221; Kolia told BBC Hereford and Worcester.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He added: &#8220;We had this problem last year with penicillin, it&#8217;s an ongoing issue but it&#8217;s worsening.
